Salary: $27,387 to $30,816                         Salary is based on education and experience

Job Description: Performs role as the direct support professional and is responsible for the routine and emergency care, treatment, and training for specified individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in routine and crisis situations residing in a residential or community-based setting. Responsibilities may include such duties as grooming, bathing, meal preparations, feeding, observing and reporting individuals’ conditions and behaviors, interacting with individuals therapeutically, participating in individualized training and/or active treatment programs. Implements habilitation and rehabilitation, behavior management, crisis intervention, and treatment programs with individuals specifically related to individual’s programs. Teaches life skills such as feeding, dressing, and personal hygiene to individuals; Participates in the development of the individual’s treatment plan; performs supervision of self-administration of medication with individual as delegated by RN; Observes individuals for signs and symptoms of disease, injury, reactions to medications, or other conditions which warrant medical intervention and properly documents observations; Reports significant changes in individual’s physical condition or behavior and records information on individuals as appropriate; Administers first aid to individuals as appropriate; Attends to health-care needs of individuals under supervision of medical personnel; Evacuates individuals in the event of a fire, natural disaster, or other emergency situation or drill; Prevents or manages aggressive behavior among individuals and administers CPR in emergency intervention. Transports and escort individuals to activities or appointments. Therapist Tech 1 is required to accurately document individual’s behavior(s) throughout the daily schedule, including response to home activities, home training, and unusual incidents. Works under moderate supervision with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment
Education: Require High School Diploma or GED.
Experience: Prefer experience working with individuals with intellectual developmental disabilities.
Hours of Work: Hours of work may vary, and shift work is required.
Licenses/Certifications: Valid driver’s license and must be insurable by Agency insurance.
Physical Requirements: Sight, hearing, ability to walk, ability to talk, ability to lift up to 50lbs., ability to communicate effectively.
