Salary: $40,275 to $49,081 Annually                      Salary is based on education & experience

Job Description: To provide crisis prevention and management, monitoring, assessment, rehabilitative skills training, service planning and coordination using the principles of trauma informed care for incarcerated persons with mental illness in the Brazos County Detention Center.  Objective is to ensure inmates in the jail receive the behavioral health care and assessment needed, and to reduce client recidivism rate within the criminal justice system. Psychosocial Rehabilitative Services are defined as social, educational, vocational, behavioral, and cognitive interventions provided by members of a client’s therapeutic team that address deficits in the individual’s ability to develop and maintain social relationships, occupational or educational achievement, independent living skills, and housing, that are a result of a severe and persistent mental illness.  These may include co-occurring substance use issues as well.  Service coordination involves accessing medical, social, educational and other appropriate services. Position also assists with post-release planning and reintegration into the community.
Education:  Requires Bachelor’s Degree in a Behavioral, Social Science, Humanities or Education field.
Experience:  Requires experience working with individuals with mental illness, must be able to work independently as well as with a team. Experience working in a Criminal Justice field is preferred. Good organizational skills are a must.
Hours of Work: Generally Monday—Friday 8am-5pm; adjustments in work hours maybe warranted to meet the needs of the program. Crisis on Call work required as agency need dictates.
Licensure/Certification:
Ability to be credentialed as Qualified Mental Health Professional. Valid driver’s license and are insurable by agency insurance. Continued employment is contingent upon successful completion of Adult Needs and Strengths Assessment (ANSA) certification as well as Illness, Management and Recovery (IMR) certification.
Physical Requirements: Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time, communicate effectively both verbally & written, good computer skills a must; ability to lift/carry under 30lbs; ability to pass the Preventative Management of Aggressive Behavior (PMAB) Training as well as all other physical requirements for this position.
