/Salary: $23,581 to $25,766 Annually Salary is based on education & experience

Job Description: A peer support specialist is someone with lived experience of having a behavioral health diagnosis that can demonstrate self-directed recovery. This position contributes in a peer support capacity to facilitate recovery and enhance wellness, serving as a role model of recovery for staff and consumers. The position supports individuals using services to develop self-help skills, provides practical support to access and utilize community support networks, and educates people about the range of available services in and beyond the agency. Assists in the recovery of mental illness by providing independent living, coordination, employment-related, and housing-related services to enable the individual to reside in the community to and avoid more restrictive levels of treatment; participate as member of peers’ interdisciplinary team; complete all Center-required documentation in Agency clinical software system.
Education: Requires High School Diploma or High School equivalency certificate issued in accordance with the law of the issuing state.
Experience: Lived experience with mental health diagnosis. Preference to those already certified as peer support specialist.
Hours of Work: Generally, Monday—Friday 8am-5pm; adjustments in work hours maybe warranted to meet the needs of the program.
Licenses/Certifications: Valid driver’s license and must be insurable by Agency insurance. Must successfully complete Illness Management and Recovery training. Must be able to attend week long Certified Peer Support training as part of job.
Physical Requirements: Light lifting under 15lbs., moderate carrying 15-44 lbs., simple grasping, walking, sitting, standing, operating a motor vehicle, operating office equipment including a computer, ability to see and hear (with aid), ability to read, write, and count, ability to maintain confidentiality, ability to work closely with others.
